Like you, I’m an ordinary person. I wear all the hats: wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend... And I’m absolutely convinced that ordinary people can have extraordinary stories...even when the story is still being written.

 

For over 20 years, I’ve stood beside my incredible husband while he has served in the United States Air Force. As he answered the call to sacrifice in service to our Nation, I found that I, too, was being called to sacrifice in service to our family. So, I walked away from my career to be a full-time homemaker/stay-at-home-mom. This decision enabled me to offer stability to our children as we faced the many challenges and demands of military life. Over the years, I have been blessed to lead our children and provide them with a sense of constancy in a life that has been filled various TDYs, deployments, moves, transitions, and changes. And as much as I loved and felt (mostly) fulfilled in that role, something inside of me kept yearning for more...

 

Several years ago, in the midst of a season where I was homeschooling all four of our children, I began searching for my ‘next.’ I started blogging about our life and our family. Our journey. Our story. I wrote about our daily life and our trials; things that inspired me and my struggles to create a new ‘normal’ as we transitioned from place to place. And my writing gave life to a new dream. I began dreaming of a way that I could help others like me—people struggling to stay afloat during times of huge transition, people balancing the needs of the people they love with the desires burning deep within their own souls; ordinary people with extraordinary dreams...with gifts and talents that they know exist, but aren’t sure how to use them.

 

I called my blog “My Anchored Life” because I write about the things that anchor me. My family, my faith, my core values...these are my True North. They are what I set my compass on. Their presence in my life affects every word I write, every decision I make, and every opportunity I seize. I believe the same is true for you.  I believe that if you can identify those core values, your anchors, you can navigate the fiercest seas and weather any storm you face.
